hello  again  my  angels  !  it’s  remy  here  with  my  second  bby  ,  miss  ariana  !  i’ll  keep  this  greeting  short  since  my  one  over  on  christian  is  a  bit  lengthy  ,  but  i’m  super  excited  to  write  and  plot  with  everyone  !  i  will  admit  that  ariana’s  intro  is  a  bit  lengthy  because  i  pay  a  little  too  much  to  details  ,  and  i  also  placed  indicators  for  where  the  eating  disorder  trigger  warning  begins  and  ends  if  you  choose  to  skip  over  that  content  .  other  than  that  ,  once  again  my  discord  is  𝕥𝕒𝕕𝕒𝕤𝕙𝕚 𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐚#6936  if  plotting  is  easier  for  you  there  ,  and  i  can’t  wait  to  get  the  ball  rolling  !

daniel  malabanon’s  family  immigrated  to  the  united  states  back  in  the  nineteenth  century  from  their  home  country  of  the  phillippines  .  through  the  decades  ,  despite  the  trials  and  tribulations  ,  the  malabanon  family  rose  through  the  ranks  of  politics  and  business  ,  with  daniel’s  grandparents  having  ten  children  between  the  two  of  them  .  the  malabanon  family  as  they  became  more  influential  in  american  politics  was  also  building  their  business  empire  .  while  daniel’s  grandfather  was  pursuing  the  levels  of  politics  from  law  school  ,  his  wife  was  pursuing  business  ,  with  the  dream  of  someday  having  her  own  cosmetics  line  .
as  the  decades  passed  and  the  malabanon  family  amassed  their  meager  beginnings  to  becoming  a  part  of  the  country’s  elite  ,  soon  comes  grandson  daniel  ,  who  decides  to  follow  in  his  father  ,  uncle  ,  and  brothers’  footsteps  of  going  into  politics  .  smart  in  his  own  right  ,  daniel  heads  off  to  the  prestigious  university  of  pennsylvania  ,  where  he  pursued  a  degree  in  political  science  before  eventually  moving  on  to  law  school  .  of  course  ,  the  malabanon  name  was  known  throughout  the  country  ,  but  daniel  didn’t  receive  any  special  treatment  while  he  was  in  college  .  after  graduation  ,  he  keeps  his  head  in  the  books  as  he  gets  his  law  degree  from  yet  another  prestigious  university  (  columbia  )  ,  and  it’s  in  new  york  city  that  daniel  meets  his  future  wife  ,  wild  child  of  a  multi - billionaire  named  celine  duverney  .
made  up  of  messy  ,  blonde  waves  and  the  liquid  courage  of  champagne  while  dancing  on  tables  ,  celine  was  the  youngest  daughter  of  a  billionaire  family  that  wanted  to  enjoy  her  twenties  despite  the  pressure  from  her  parents  .  she  was  determined  to  live  her  own  life  ,  and  even  though  she  was  getting  what  she  deemed  a  useless  degree  in  business  administration  ,  that  didn’t  stop  celine  from  enjoying  her  life  to  the  fullest  .  she  spent  summers  on  yachts  off  the  shores  of  a  tropical  island  or  would  splurge  in  neiman  marcus  simply  because  her  professor  told  her  one  of  her  papers  wasn’t  good  enough  .  while  she  was  in  college  ,  celine  was  a  kappa  ,  and  it  fit  the  blonde  well  considering  that  she  was  rich  ,  spoiled  ,  and  made  sure  that  everyone  around  her  was  fully  aware  that  she  was  getting  dropped  off  at  school  in  a  rolls - royce  and  never  (  absolutely  refused  )  to  eat  dining  hall  food  .
when  it  came  to  daniel  and  celine’s  relationship  ,  the  two  started  dating  while  daniel  was  in  his  first  year  of  law  school  and  celine  was  a  junior  .  their  relationship  was  a  bit  of  a  whirlwind  ,  and  they  eventually  eloped  in  a  simple  wedding  on  the  beach  in  bali  the  summer  after  celine’s  graduation  .  little  did  the  couple  know  ,  is  that  at  the  time  ,  celine  was  pregnant  with  their  first  baby  and  eldest  son  dominic  .  celine  decides  to  be  a  stay  at  home  mom  while  daniel  moves  through  the  ranks  at  a  prestigious  law  firm  moving  from  summer  associate  to  senior  associate  ,  but  daniel  wanted  to  be  congressman  .  a  few  more  years  pass  ,  a  second  baby  named  naomi  is  soon  born  ,  the  family  has  made  the  cross  country  move  to  california  ,  and  daniel  is  running  for  congressman  of  california  .
the  family  settled  into  a  gorgeous  home  on  sunset  boulevard  .
after  running  for  often  twice  and  getting  beat  by  a  landslide  the  first  time  around  ,  daniel  is  elected  as  senator  and  celine  begrudgingly  becomes  thrust  into  the  public  eye  and  is  under  constant  scrutiny  .  the  malabanans  are  newcomers  to  the  world  of  politics  in  this  sense  ,  as  they’re  no  longer  skirting  around  the  edges  and  waiting  to  have  their  chance  at  all  the  glory  .  marriage  and  children  had  calmed  celine’s  wild  ways  ,  but  when  she  was  twenty - nine  and  their  last  daughter  ,  a  bright  eyed  baby  they  named  ariana  was  brought  into  the  picture  ,  everything  changed  for  the  worst  .
to  naomi  and  dominic  ,  celine  was  a  wonderful  mother  .  she  baked  cookies  ,  they  hung  out  by  the  pool  ,  she  helped  them  with  their  homework  ,  but  as  little  ariana  grew  up  ,  she  was  not  the  apple  of  her  mother’s  eye  .  the  first  strike  against  her  was  the  fact  that  she  was  born  via  c - section  due  to  a  complicated  pregnancy  ,  leaving  her  mother  with  an  ugly  scar  that  remains  to  this  day  .  she  was  born  in  paris  while  the  family  was  on  vacation  ,  actually  coming  two  months  before  she  was  due  .  celine  was  annoyed  with  being  stuck  in  paris  as  she  waited  for  her  daughter  to  grow  stronger  ,  and  that  was  the  second  strike  against  the  innocent  child  .  being  in  the  public  eye  because  of  her  husband’s  job  made  celine  quite  conscious  of  all  things  appearance  ,  and  made  sure  that  she  and  her  children  never  left  the  house  with  a  hair  out  of  place  or  a  shirt  untucked  .  naomi  ,  the  golden  child  to  her  mother  ,  immediately  began  participating  in  beauty  pageants  while  her  dominic  followed  his  calling  and  focused  on  academia  like  the  men  before  him  .
little  ariana  liked  to  play  ,  and  she  liked  to  play  hard  .  she  wanted  to  play  soccer  in  the  rain  with  the  other  neighborhood  kids  and  roll  down  grassy  hills  until  her  skin  was  itchy  ,  but  her  mother  ?  she  wasn’t  having  any  of  that  .  ari  was  going  to  be  prim  ,  proper  -- her  back  would  be  so  straight  a  ruler  would  be  jealous  ,  and  those  soccer  cleats  her  father  bought  her  were  thrown  into  the  trash  and  replaced  with  ballet  slippers  .  for  years  ,  ariana  was  no  longer  the  only  malabanan  kid  who  played  with  the  others  in  the  neighborhood  ,  and  she  now  had  a  strict  schedule  of  working  out  ,  school  ,  ballet  ,  and  studying  at  the  tender  age  of  thirteen  .  when  her  freshman  year  starts  ,  though  ,  ariana  abandons  her  mother’s  dream  and  trades  the  ballet  slippers  for  a  pair  of  cheerleading  pom - poms  .  with  her  infectious  personality  and  warm  smile  ,  it’s  no  surprise  that  ariana  makes  the  coveted  harvard - westlake  cheerleading  team  .
and  while  most  mothers  would  be  proud  of  their  daughter’s  accomplishment  ,  celine  was  more  focused  on  her  daughter’s  appearance  than  anything  else  .  TW BEGINS  she  limits  what  she  could  and  couldn’t  eat  ,  often  making  snide  remarks  when  ariana  says  how  much  she’s  craving  her  favorite  cheeseburger  from  shake  shack  or  how  she  had  a  bit  of  cheesecake  after  dinner  .  celine  wakes  her  daughter  up  at  five  in  the  morning  with  a  hellish  personal  trainer  that  makes  her  run  their  expansive  neighborhood  until  her  lungs  are  tight  and  she’s  gasping  for  air  .  breakfast  is  smoothies  ,  lunch  is  only  soup  ,  and  even  then  all  the  good  things  that  ariana  craves  have  been  taken  out  .  she  has  to  be  skinny  --  she  has  to  make  her  mother  proud  .
the  lack  of  food  during  the  day  leads  to  binging  in  the  night  ,  tip - toeing  to  the  kitchen  with  the  aid  of  the  housekeeper  ,  who  kept  a  hidden  stash  in  a  cabinet  her  mother  never  dared  to  open  .  binges  turn  to  regret  ,  tear  stained  cheeks  and  the  horrid  sound  of  ariana  hunched  over  the  toilet  as  she  begs  to  be  forgiven  for  the  disappointment  she  would  bring  to  her  mother  .  it  all  comes  to  a  head  during  ariana’s  junior  year  ,  when  she’s  gained  an  ounce  of  her  mother’s  affection  and  dark  circles  that  are  hidden  beneath  luxury  concealer  ,  and  it’s  the  annual  homecoming  football  game  .  dinner  consisted  of  four  baby  carrots  and  a  bottle  of  water  ,  and  right  as  ariana  is  lifted  into  the  air  to  perform  a  basket  toss  ,  she’s  falling  --  and  she  lands  on  the  unforgiving  ground  with  a  sneer  on  celine’s  face  as  she  watches  behind  saint  laurent  sunglasses  .
ariana  goes  to  the  hospital  and  is  diagnosed  with  bulimia  ,  a  word  that  clouds  her  in  a  cloak  of  embarrassment  and  springs  tears  in  her  father’s  eyes  .  celine  is  uncaring  ,  picking  at  her  hundred  dollar  manicure  instead  of  caring  for  the  daughter  she  allegedly  loved  so  much  --  at  least  ,  that’s  what  she  said  when  she  spoke  to  the  media  .  ariana  is  pulled  from  harvard - westlake  ,  sadly  for  her  senior  year  ,  and  begins  the  slow  process  of  healing  .  her  relationship  with  food  becomes  healthy  again  ,  and  she  cries  when  she  has  cheesecake  ,  her  favorite  thing  in  the  world  ,  when  she  returns  home  .  TW  ENDS
she  makes  the  decision  to  head  off  to  college  ,  putting  all  of  her  eggs  into  one  basket  when  she  only  applies  to  hollingsworth  university  .  she’s  desperate  to  get  from  under  her  mother’s  criticizing  eye  ,  and  to  finally  be  her  own  person  .  during  freshman  year  ,  ariana  pledges  kappa  in  hopes  that  she’d  make  a  dent  in  her  tainted  relationship  with  her  mother  ,  but  nothing  ever  seems  to  work  in  her  favor  .  she  makes  it  through  rush  week  and  becomes  a  pledge  for  the  society  ,  bouncing  on  the  balls  of  her  feet  when  she’s  chosen  on  bid  day  .  all  goes  well  until  it’s  time  for  a  little  bit  of  hazing  ,  but  ariana  finds  herself  with  the  short  end  of  the  stick  .  she  has  to  clean  longer  ,  take  one  more  shot  ,  staying  awake  an  extra  hour  while  the  other  pledges  have  gone  to  bed  ,  and  being  utterly  humiliated  when  her  kappa  sisters  discover  that  she  had  an  innocent  crush  on  a  boy  from  sigma  .
ariana  drops  out  of  kappa  and  goes  the  rest  of  the  semester  stewing  in  her  upset  over  the  pure  humiliation  she  was  forced  to  endure  .  when  the  spring  semester  rolls  around  ,  ariana  still  carries  that  torch  as  she  steps  into  the  delta  house  looking  for  a  fresh  start  ,  and  it’s  the  society  where  she  remains  today  .  she’s  in  the  college  of  business  and  is  also  a  cheerleader  ,  even  though  most  would  assume  it  harbors  too  heavy  feelings  ,  but  her  constant  work  in  therapy  has  helped  her  regain  her  love  for  the  sport  again  .
when  it  comes  to  ariana’s  personality  ,  she’s  something  of  a  spitfire  .  she’s  not  afraid  of  confrontation  and  she  can  be  extremely  petty  at  times  .  for  her  positive  traits  genteel  and  cosmopolitan  ,  ariana  is  respectable  when  she  needs  to  be  (  like  attending  galas  with  her  family  or  when  she  debuted  at  the  debutante  ball  in  new  york  city  )  and  since  her  family  traveled  as  well  as  met  dignitaries  around  the  world  a  lot  thanks  to  her  father’s  career  ,  ariana  is  quite  sophisticated  and  she  carries  herself  as  such  .  as  for  her  negative  traits  disingenuous  and  acrimonious  ,  it  simply  means  that  she  will  fake  the  funk  sometimes  in  order  to  get  something  she  wants  .  her  disingenuous  ways  especially  shows  when  she’s  being  petty  ,  and  she’ll  pretend  to  not  know  the  full  story  to  either  a .  confront  the  other  person  with  the  facts  or  b .  gather  up  as  much  information  as  she  possibly  can  .  as  for  being  acrimonious  ,  it  means  that  ari  is  bitter  as  hell  ,  especially  when  talking  about  kappa  .
secret  .
when  it  comes  to  her  secret  about  her  family  ,  the  malabanan’s  are  similiar  to  the  kennedy’s  in  the  sense  that  they’re  the  ‘  perfect  ’  family  with  no  issues  ,  on  the  surface  .  in  reality  ,  celine  leaves  daniel  frequently  and  jets  off  on  exotic  excursions  with  billionaires  she  just  met  ,  trying  to  get  back  what  she  lost  because  of  marriage  and  children  .  dominic  has  fallen  into  a  drug  addiction  he  thinks  no  one  has  noticed  ,  and  naomi  is  off  doing  whatever  it  is  she’s  doing  .  despite  that  ,  their  friends  and  extended  family  always  gets  the  perfect  holiday  cards  when  the  season  rolls  around  and  they’re  always  written  as  ‘  family  goals  ’  on  either  instagram  or  twitter  .
short  headcanons  :
ariana  lives  off - campus  and  in  a  gorgeous  apartment  (  minus  that  ugly  blue  bed  lol  )  .
she  drives  a  black  porsche  panamera  ,  and  she  originally  wanted  a  ferrari  ,  but  she  threw  a  minor  fit  when  her  dad  said  no  .  eventually  ,  she  got  over  it  .
her  style  ?  is  literally  all  over  the  place  .  one  day  she’ll  be  wearing  all  black  with  a  leather  jacket  ,  another  day  she’s  dressed  like  a  carbon  copy  of  outfits  on  pinterest  ,  and  on  another  she’s  wearing  high  heels  and  a  midi - skirt  .  there’s  no  in  between  for  her  ,  but  you  better  believe  that  everything  is  designer  ,  even  down  to  her  hair  accessories  .
she’s  most  comfortable  in  her  home  ,  and  there’s  a  chance  that  when  she’s  home  she’s  blaring  music  .  she’ll  be  in  a  giant  shirt  with  her  hair  tugged  up  in  a  top  knot  .
her  favorite  food  is  a  shackburger  with  cheese  fries  and  a  creamsicle  float  .  she  is  absolutely  obsessed  with  cheesecake  in  any  and  all  forms  .
wanted  plots  :
i  think  a  roommates  plot  would  be  so  much  fun  !  ariana  can  be  hella  standoffish  at  times  ,  but  she’s  probably  the  best  roommate  out  there  .
umm  ...  👀  i  don’t  know  about  you  guys  but  i’m  in  love  with  angsty  plots  ,  so  i’d  love  anything  like  that  .  whether  it  be  exes  ,  something  toxic  ,  or  even  a  friendship  that  turned  sour  ,  i’d  be  down  for  all  of  it  .
high  !  school  !  plots  !  i’d  really  love  to  explore  ariana’s  life  outside  of  her  struggles  ,  so  i’d  love  to  high  school  boyfriend  or  girlfriend  ,  crushes  ,  friends  ,  enemies  ...  anything  !
a  tag  full  of  desired  relations  (  which  will  be  updated  periodically  !  )  can  be  found  right  here  .  i’m  also  down  to  go  based  off  chemistry  if  that  works  best  for  you  !  i  also  have  a  desired  relations  tag  for  christian  but  i  forgot  to  link  it  !

Starred in Icardi after announcing not to leave
Mauro Cardi" is what Premier League teams like Chelsea and Manchester United want to join. It may be difficult for players to finish playing or still want to play.
Inter Milan center and captain Mauro Kardy made it clear to the Italian media that they do not intend to move to a league other than Serie A soon. Teams from England, Spain or France will not have the right to let this star join the team. But it is still possible for teams from the same league, not only because of Icardi's refusal to refuse Chelsea to Chelsea, Polish forward Kristof Pietec must stay in Genoa. The next agent because the club only bought it in the summer, and even without 2 new forwards joining the team mega888 test id , there is no plan to release Christoph Pittek. When team genius guard Marcos Alonso signs a new contract, there is still news Make Chelsea fans happy. This way, he can stay on the team until 2023, which means he has a good memory for the past two seasons. Glad to be at Stamford Bridge for a long time and he is ready to succeed with the team
.
Tumblr media
"Marcelo" injured, may miss match "El Classico"
Real Madrid will face bad news when "Marcelo" is injured in the Champions League game. This field may not be entered
Marcelo scored a goal in the game, Madrid beat Victoria Pulsen 2-1, the game went on for 90 minutes, but before the end of the game, Marcelo's rhythm was beaten by Oban Aubong. Pulsen is intercepted and sent off. At that time Madrid completely changed the reserve players. Caused Madrid to play at time of injury 10
Lopeteki said in an interview after the game that he still has to wait to check his symptoms again but not to the point of muscle tearing but still have to wait to reconfirm whether El Clasico can play this Sunday, but Marcelo accepted after the game The interview was okay. And there is still enough energy to answer the irony of the media that likes to write negative Madrid news, is that jealous people cannot play football and therefore have to attack in a way that news is disrupted
The media said that is implemented, "Madrid" must compensate 18 million euros.
Tumblr media
Even though Real Madrid won the Champions League last night, news of the "Lopeti" version continues. It was revealed that if "Lopetiki" is issued, compensation of 18 million euros must be paid
The future of Julen Lopetegi cannot be guaranteed. Even if he wins in the match, he will continue to control Real Madrid's Champions League last night, club club president Florentino Perez has not yet released media, which may be due to the compensation paid to Lopeti up to 18 million Euro, or nearly 700 euros. Million. Sport. Spanish media also said that because of this number stealing money, Lope Teke from the Spanish national team in order to control Zidane Zidane, Zidane's salary is more than twice the national team's salary, this Become a sharp spear, and then deliberately deliberately into Madrid. If you use this amount to solve the manager's problem again, although the manager of the team is unlikely to end easily, it started from the victory last night. French center Karim Benzema has an impressive record, becoming the third player in history to shoot 14 consecutive games in the Champions League. The first to do so was Raul Gonzales in the seasons, and later Lionel Messi was also his was done twice a season. Although Benzema can only do this in the  season, he has the right to break the record. If he can shoot again, he will immediately become the first person to shoot 15 games in a row. In addition to this statistic, he must see if Benzema will come back and blow up the table to help solve the gun problem in Madrid, because this is also in all the games. Important factors for outstanding performance.

FEATURE: The tale of Alphonso Davies: From refugee babies to superstars
In commemoration of World Refugee Day which fell last Saturday (June 20), the Graphic Sports pays tribute to sports stars who were previously refugees but have braved the odds to become superstars, with a focus on Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies, born to Liberian parents at a refugee camp in Ghana.
Realising one’s potential in another man’s land is something that seems virtually impossible for most people but a few have braved the odds to transcend from the status of a refugee into world-class sportsmen.
Notable among them are some footballers who have fled conflict from Africa at a very young age to seek refuge either in Europe or America and have managed to become household names.
Born in a small refugee camp in Buduburam in the Gomoa East District in Ghana, the development of Liberian winger Alphonso Davies may not have been as smooth as any regular person but that did not suppress the 19-year-old from realising his potential.
He is now a household name in Germany due to his exploits with Bundesliga side, Bayern Munich, irrespective of his background as a child of immigrants who fled civil war in Liberia to Ghana and later found refuge in Canada.
It was not until Alphonso was five years when his parent emigrated to the North American country where they settled in the city of Edmonton where his parent had to work long hours just to make ends meet.
A pupil of the Mother Theresa Catholic School, Alphonso’s exploits soon caught the attention of his Grade six teacher and sports coach, Melissa Guzzo, due to his multi-talents, either as a basketball player or on the tracks or field.
Convinced by his potentials, Guzzo contacted Tim Adams, the founder of Free Footie, a football academy for the underprivileged, who immediately spotted the abilities in the Liberian and later invited the coach of St. Nicholas Soccer Academy, Marco Bossio, to check out the boy.
Bossio was impressed by Alphonso’s prowess, and at age 14 he was enrolled in the Vancouver Whitecaps’ residency programme and later became the youngest player born in the 2000s to play in the American MLS at the age of 15.
Similarly, he became the youngest player to feature for the Canadian national team at the age of 17 in June 2017, where he scored two goals against French Guiana in their CONCACAF Gold Cup. He then made a record switch in 2018 worth $22 million, including bonuses to the
Bundesliga giants
The story of Davies is not in isolation. Professional football leagues in Europe and America are replete with similar stories of players who swam against the tide to position themselves on the global stage.
Saido Berahino
Another name that easily comes to mind is 26-year-old Burundi international, Saido Berahino, who also fled raging conflict in his native country to join his mother, brother and sisters who were seeking asylum in Birmingham.
After his father was killed in the civil war, the 10-year-old boy fled to England where he started his professional career with West Bromwich Albion after a year and became a professional seven years later.
Upon his arrival in Birmingham, Saido could not easily trace his family and had to be in a care home until his mother was traced and confirmation done through a DNA test.
Christian Benteke
Christian Benteke who was born in DR Congo’s capital, Kinshasa, found himself in Belgium after his parents also fled the tyrannical regime of then-President Mobutu Sese Seko.
Currently playing for English Premiership side, Crystal Palace, the 29-year-old did not allow his refugee status to overwhelm his dreams as he started playing for JS Pierreuse and later to Standard Liège before moving to Genk.
Victor Moses
Ex-Chelsea star, Victor Moses also found himself in England after armed men attacked his parents in Kaduna, Nigeria. His father who was a pastor and mother were killed due to their religious inclination when riot swept the town in 2002.
He was adopted by a foster parent in south London and attended   Stanley Technical High School, and was later scouted by Crystal Palace and debut for the senior side at the age of 16.

to  naomi  and  dominic  ,  celese  was  a  wonderful  mother  .  she  baked  cookies  ,  they  hung  out  by  the  pool  ,  she  helped  them  with  their  homework  ,  but  as  little  ariana  grew  up  ,  she  was  not  the  apple  of  her  mother’s  eye  .  the  first  strike  against  her  was  the  fact  that  she  was  born  via  c - section  due  to  a  complicated  pregnancy  ,  leaving  her  mother  with  an  ugly  scar  that  remains  to  this  day  .  she  was  born  in  knightsbridge  while  the  family  was  on  vacation  ,  actually  coming  two  months  before  she  was  due  .  celeste  was  annoyed  with  being  stuck  in  knightsbridge  as  she  waited  for  her  daughter  to  grow  stronger  ,  and  that  was  the  second  strike  against  the  innocent  child  .  being  in  the  public  eye  because  of  her  husband’s  job  made  celeste  quite  conscious  of  all  things  appearance  ,  and  made  sure  that  she  and  her  children  never  left  the  house  with  a  hair  out  of  place  or  a  shirt  untucked  .  naomi  ,  the  golden  child  to  her  mother  ,  immediately  began  participating  in  beauty  pageants  while  dominic  followed  his  calling  and  focused  on  academia  like  the  men  before  him  .
little  ariana  liked  to  play  ,  and  she  liked  to  play  hard  .  she  wanted  to  play  soccer  in  the  rain  with  the  other  neighborhood  kids  and  roll  down  grassy  hills  until  her  skin  was  itchy  ,  but  her  mother  ?  she  wasn’t  having  any  of  that  .  ari  was  going  to  be  prim  ,  proper  –  her  back  would  be  so  straight  a  ruler  would  be  jealous  ,  and  those  soccer  cleats  her  father  bought  her  were  thrown  into  the  trash  and  replaced  with  ballet  slippers  .  for  years  ,  ariana  was  no  longer  the  only  klein  kid  who  played  with  the  others  in  the  neighborhood  ,  and  she  now  had  a  strict  schedule  of  working  out  ,  school  ,  ballet  ,  and  studying  at  the  tender  age  of  thirteen  .  when  her  freshman  year  starts  ,  though  ,  ariana  abandons  her  mother’s  dream  and  trades  the  ballet  slippers  for  a  pair  of  cheerleading  pom - poms  .  with  her  infectious  personality  and  warm  smile  ,  it’s  no  surprise  that  ariana  makes  the  coveted  harvard - westlake  cheerleading  team  .
and  while  most  mothers  would  be  proud  of  their  daughter’s  accomplishment  ,  celeste  was  more  focused  on  her  daughter’s  appearance  than  anything  else  .  EATING  DISORDER  TW BEGINS  she  limits  what  she  could  and  couldn’t  eat  ,  often  making  snide  remarks  when  ariana  says  how  much  she’s  craving  her  favorite  cheeseburger  from  shake  shack  or  how  she  had  a  bit  of  cheesecake  after  dinner  .  celeste  wakes  her  daughter  up  at  five  in  the  morning  with  a  hellish  personal  trainer  that  makes  her  run  their  expansive  neighborhood  until  her  lungs  are  tight  and  she’s  gasping  for  air  .  breakfast  is  smoothies  ,  lunch  is  only  soup  ,  and  even  then  all  the  good  things  that  ariana  craves  have  been  taken  out  .  she  has  to  be  skinny  –  she  has  to  make  her  mother  proud  .
the  lack  of  food  during  the  day  leads  to  binging  in  the  night  ,  tip - toeing  to  the  kitchen  with  the  aid  of  the  housekeeper  ,  who  kept  a  hidden  stash  in  a  cabinet  her  mother  never  dared  to  open  .  binges  turn  to  regret  ,  tear  stained  cheeks  and  the  horrid  sound  of  ariana  hunched  over  the  toilet  as  she  begs  to  be  forgiven  for  the  disappointment  she  would  bring  to  her  mother  .  it  all  comes  to  a  head  during  ariana’s  junior  year  ,  when  she’s  gained  an  ounce  of  her  mother’s  affection  and  dark  circles  that  are  hidden  beneath  luxury  concealer  ,  and  it’s  the  annual  homecoming  football  game  .  dinner  consisted  of  four  baby  carrots  and  a  bottle  of  water  ,  and  right  as  ariana  is  lifted  into  the  air  to  perform  a  basket  toss  ,  she’s  falling  –  and  she  lands  on  the  unforgiving  ground  with  a  sneer  on  celeste’s  face  as  she  watches  behind  saint  laurent  sunglasses  .
ariana  goes  to  the  hospital  and  is  diagnosed  with  bulimia  ,  a  word  that  clouds  her  in  a  cloak  of  embarrassment  and  springs  tears  in  her  father’s  eyes  .  celeste  is  uncaring  ,  picking  at  her  hundred  dollar  manicure  instead  of  caring  for  the  daughter  she  allegedly  loved  so  much  –  at  least  ,  that’s  what  she  said  when  she  spoke  to  the  media  .  ariana  is  pulled  from  harvard - westlake  ,  sadly  for  her  senior  year  ,  and  begins  the  slow  process  of  healing  .  her  relationship  with  food  becomes  healthy  again  ,  and  she  cries  when  she  has  cheesecake  ,  her  favorite  thing  in  the  world  ,  when  she  returns  home  .  TW  ENDS
she  makes  the  decision  to  head  off  to  college  ,  putting  all  of  her  eggs  into  one  basket  when  she  only  applies  to  hollingsworth  university  .  she’s  desperate  to  get  from  under  her  mother’s  criticizing  eye  ,  and  to  finally  be  her  own  person  .  during  freshman  year  ,  ariana  pledges  kappa  in  hopes  that  she’d  make  a  dent  in  her  tainted  relationship  with  her  mother  ,  but  nothing  ever  seems  to  work  in  her  favor  .  she  makes  it  through  rush  week  and  becomes  a  pledge  for  the  society  ,  bouncing  on  the  balls  of  her  feet  when  she’s  chosen  on  bid  day  .  all  goes  well  until  it’s  time  for  a  little  bit  of  hazing  ,  but  ariana  finds  herself  with  the  short  end  of  the  stick  .  she  has  to  clean  longer  ,  take  one  more  shot  ,  staying  awake  an  extra  hour  while  the  other  pledges  have  gone  to  bed  ,  and  being  utterly  humiliated  when  her  kappa  sisters  discover  that  she  had  an  innocent  crush  on  a  boy  from  sigma  who  had  been  dating  kappa’s  vice  president  at  that  time  .
ariana  drops  out  of  kappa  and  goes  the  rest  of  the  semester  stewing  in  her  upset  over  the  pure  humiliation  she  was  forced  to  endure  .  when  the  spring  semester  rolls  around  ,  ariana  still  carries  that  torch  as  she  steps  into  the  delta  house  looking  for  a  fresh  start  ,  and  it’s  the  society  where  she  remains  today  .  she’s  in  the  college  of  business  and  is  also  a  cheerleader  ,  even  though  most  would  assume  it  harbors  too  heavy  feelings  ,  but  her  constant  work  in  therapy  has  helped  her  regain  her  love  for  the  sport  again  .
when  it  comes  to  ariana’s  personality  ,  she’s  something  of  a  spitfire  .  she’s  not  afraid  of  confrontation  and  she  can  be  extremely  petty  at  times  .  for  her  positive  traits  genteel  and  cosmopolitan  ,  ariana  is  respectable  when  she  needs  to  be  (  like  attending  galas  with  her  family  or  when  she  debuted  at  the  debutante  ball  in  new  york  city  )  and  since  her  family  traveled  as  well  as  met  dignitaries  around  the  world  a  lot  thanks  to  her  father’s  career  ,  ariana  is  quite  sophisticated  and  she  carries  herself  as  such  .  as  for  her  negative  traits  disingenuous  and  acrimonious  ,  it  simply  means  that  she  will  fake  the  funk  sometimes  in  order  to  get  something  she  wants  .  her  disingenuous  ways  especially  shows  when  she’s  being  petty  ,  and  she’ll  pretend  to  not  know  the  full  story  to  either  a .  confront  the  other  person  with  the  facts  or  b .  gather  up  as  much  information  as  she  possibly  can  .  as  for  being  acrimonious  ,  it  means  that  ari  is  bitter  as  hell  ,  especially  when  talking  about  kappa  .

Redemption man: Olivier Giroud has stood the test of time in competition with Morata and Higuain
Ask Eden Hazard and Willian who they enjoy playing alongside the most at Chelsea . Then go and ask Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann the same question for the France national team.
The answer will be OIivier Giroud. Why? He makes those around him flourish, does the hard work others wont and is comfortable in the role he provides, rather than wanting under the pressure to be the main marksman or a side.
"I feel like I'm a team player," he told Sportsmail earlier this month .
Olivier Giroud is showing just why he is ready to be the main man for Chelsea in attack
He brings out the best in those around him as shown playing with Kylian Mbappe for France
'I'm thinking about being an unselfish striker. I like to set up goals for my team mates.
'It would have been interesting to tell me my assists as well! I think it's 60 or something like that. "
Giroud is not wrong either. Assists are a major part of Giroud's game and at the start of December, every goal in the league scored this season by Hazard came with the Frenchman on the pitch.
Twenty-seven Premier League appearances this season – 20 from the bench – saw him score just twice. But that is a small element to a bigger picture for Giroud.
Giroud (right ) brings out the best in others and is a joy for people like Willian to play alongside
Vital goals at key moments has seen Giroud prove to Maurizio Sarri why he must be starting
Unselfish is the key word , even if many point out his struggles putting the ball into the back of the net.
He has always divided fan opinion from his days at Montpellier to Arsenal and now at Chelsea, even if his value to the team is clearer than it has probably ever been.
His performance at the 2018 World Cup, for example, is a stick critics continue to beat him with.
The 32-year-old, who recently agreed on a new one-year deal to remain at Chelsea, picked up a World Cup winners' medal without mustering a single shot on target in the entire tournament.
He had 546 minutes to change this damn statistic but while critics went into overdrive, Giroud and boss Didier Deschamps were relaxed in the knowledge that his presence in attack was pivotal. The gift of a side that rivals were missing. France won the tournament, in part, due to Giroud's link-up.
And let's not do Giroud a disservice. He is France's third all-time leading goal scorer behind Michel Platini and top scorer Thierry Henry. Six behind Platini and 16 behind Henry, it would be foolish to bet against him closing the gap if he gets a regular run in the side.
And carry that thought back to his performances with Chelsea and the improvements shown by Hazard when the French striker is on the pitch. It is not one big coincidence.
Confidence is oozing through the Frenchman right now as he suddenly a match -winning final
Despite not having a shot on target all tournament, Giroud was vital in France's World Cup win
'Olivier's a target man, maybe the best in the world; I think so, 'Hazard boldly stated after a 4-1 route on Cardiff back in September.
Giroud laid on two goals that afternoon as Hazard went on to claim the match ball with an impressive hat-trick. People pointed to the opposition but this was a partnership that worked consistently – only Maurizio Sarri did not, initially, appear to possess the same faith in Giroud as his team-mates.
"When he gets the ball he can hold the ball and we can go in deep with him, so for us it's a pleasure to play with him," Hazard added.
"When Alvaro (Morata) was playing it's completely different, he's a different player than Olivier, but they both have great qualities. '
Morata has since been shown the door, a loan move to Atletico Madrid, as has Higuain and who is left to fire Chelsea to glory in the Europa League final? None other than Giroud.
"I have felt a part of the team, the family, since the beginning," the Frenchman said, after signing his contract extension. "Hopefully there will be more trophies to come."
That chance of a trophy comes in midweek against the side he played for between 2012-18.
Managers like Deschamps see better balance with Giroud as the focal point, particularly when deploying a 4-3-3 system which Chelsea favor under Sarri.
Gonzalo Higuain (L) has been trusted in the Premier League but failed to meet expectation
In Europe the story is all about Giroud and he is set to finish with the golden boat
He thrived at Arsenal when linking up with Mesut Ozil (right) and could face him out in Baku
Even at Arsenal, former boss Arsene Wenger saw the benefits of pairing Giroud with an in-form Mesut Ozil.
Take a look at his record at Arsenal. He notched an impressive 105 goals in 253 games but soon faced the prospect or being the side's third choice striker behind Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. He left and is thriving elsewhere.
Higuain has flopped since joining on loan from Juventus and while his reputation suggests he is a better marksman, a more clinical finisher, Chelsea head into Wednesday's Europe League final with the tournament's top scorer in their ranks … Giroud .
Goals in this season's tournament sees him joint top scorer with Eintracht Frankfurt's Luka Jovic and his old side Arsenal will be fearful of his growing status as the main man in attack for Chelsea.
Three assists, compared to Jovic's one, puts him in top spot and with Frankfurt eliminated by Chelsea in the semi-finals, Giroud can walk away with the trophy with one more goal.
Some may say winning the tournament's golden boat lays down a marker, silencing critics. But he has already achieved that.
Chelsea player's goals saw him become the first player to score 10 times in a single season in European competition. Sarri can no longer leave him out, he is too effective, particularly in Europe.
Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic is the only player to match Giroud's 10 Europa League goals
The Frenchman has been revived and has earned his chance to be Chelsea's No 1 striker next season
Giroud has not always been like this and his record sugge sts talk or two left feet in front or goal is sheer hyperbole.
Entering professional football with Grenoble in France, Giroud hit 15 goals in his first 15 games for the reserve team in 2006 before quickly earning himself a promotion to the senior team.
Fast forward 13 years and his role is different now. His capabilities have shifted to the point where while providing an aerial threat, he is equally as dangerous facilitating those around him to reach their potential.
Arsenal were content to let him go but may well be scratching their head in Azerbaijan just why Mr. Unselfish was allowed to join their bitter London rivals.

Significant Arsenal appointment will ensure Reiss Nelson doesn't become another Serge Gnabry
There has been a new appointment to the backroom staff at Arsenal, as former lead data analyst Ben Knapper has been given the newly-created position of Loans Manager, as reported by Training Ground Guru.
In a period of much change at the club, which has included the likes of Arsene Wenger and Ivan Gazidis leaving and the arrivals of Unai Emery and Raul Sanllehi, it would be easy for such an appointment to go largely unnoticed.
However, Knapper has the potential to have a profound impact in his new role. The Gunners have been underperforming in the loan market for years; consistently failing to make the most of the temporary transfer system.
Look away Arsenal fans! American Soccer Fan is back to troll more fans at the London Stadium in the video below…
Knapper has been with the north London club since 2010, so has a full understanding of its workings. In his new position he will work closely with manager Emery, director of football Sanllehi, and head of the academy Per Mertesacker to identify which of the club’s young talents would be well-served by a stint elsewhere.
Knapper will also closely monitor those who are already on loan to ensure that they are developing positively in their time away from the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners currently have a number of promising players out on loan, including Reiss Nelson who is plying his trade in the Bundesliga with Hoffenheim, Krystian Bielik who is representing League One side Charlton Athletic and Calum Chambers who joined Premier League newcomers Fulham.
Each of the aforementioned trio will have ambitions of featuring in Emery’s first team at Arsenal next season, but in order to do so they must capitalise upon the opportunities presented by their loan moves.
19-year-old Nelson is one of the most exciting talents to have emerged from the Arsenal academy in years. His return of six goals and one assist from thirteen Bundesliga outings has led to speculation that he could soon receive a call up to the senior England team.
It is vital that Arsenal manage Nelson correctly at this crucial time in his career, and Knapper is perfectly positioned to ensure that the young winger’s development is handled properly. Failure to do so could result in the Gunners missing out on a future superstar.
It would not be the first time that a talented young prospect has failed to fulfil his potential following a loan move away from Arsenal. Prior to Knapper’s appointment, and before Emery’s arrival, Arsenal’s management structure looked very different with Wenger at the helm.
During the Frenchman’s long reign, players out on loan all too often failed to progress and found themselves in cycles of being sent out on successive loan moves without any prospect of making an impact in the first team upon their return to north London.
The likes of Joel Campbell, Serge Gnabry, Jon Toral, Chuba Akpom and Henri Lansbury are all examples of players who were sent out on numerous loan moves by the Gunners, many of which failed to have the desired effect. None are still at the club.
Of course, had they never gone out on loan they may all still have fallen short of the first team anyway, but at the very least Arsenal could have made more money by cashing in on these players earlier, before devaluing them via a series of underwhelming loan stints.
One of the very few players in recent years to have returned from a loan spell and then have a big and long-term impact on the first team was Francis Coquelin, but even that was more thanks to luck than judgement. The French midfielder was recalled from Charlton Athletic in December 2014 due to a first team injury crisis at Arsenal. He came back to the Emirates and shone, but he was not in Wenger’s plans before the injury crisis struck.
None of this points to a good track record for Arsenal in the loan market, and it’s hard to argue that a talent such as Gnabry – who now features regularly for Bayern Munich and the German national team – could not have had greater success at Arsenal had his development not been hampered by a loan spell to West Brom, where he played just three times in half a season. What was he ever going to learn as a bit-part player under Tony Pulis?
Arsenal cannot afford for Nelson to be the next Gnabry, and the club will be hoping that Knapper can ensure that from now on the club are able to use the loan market to their benefit rather than their detriment.

England's run down to Southgate, players breaking away from the past
Tumblr media
12:10 PM ETAfter nearly a quarter-century living in England and covering the national team for much of that time, I can tell you that this run to the semifinal feels different. (In a good way, I hasten to add, though obviously that does not mean they will win Euro 2020 because, history shows, they usually do not end up with a trophy.)Make no mistake about it, some things are the same. Few countries, at least among the "bigger" nations," have the ability to go from ecstasy to dejection based on a single result, for example.Win and you will hear pundits and fans -- at least those who make the most noise -- talk about how, deep down, England can beat anyone and how everyone with Three Lions on their shirt is "world class" or, as they like to say, "thereabouts." Lose and they are inept no-hopers at best, a spoiled, ungrateful bunch of disinterested stains on the national character at worse. This is not to say media and supporters in other countries do not get carried away when they excel, or turn into angry villagers with pitchforks and torches when they underperform. They certainly do; it is just that there is not normally the 180-degree turnaround from game to game. But while that part has not changed about England, what has is a lot to do with the man leading the team, Gareth Southgate, and a little to do with the sort of players who comprise his squad. Here are five ways in which this side is different.- Euro 2020 on ESPN: Stream LIVE games, replays (U.S.) - European Soccer Pick 'Em: Compete to win $10,000 - Euro 2020 bracket and fixture schedule
1. Southgate is likeable and humble and normal
England's manager is probably more relatable than any of his seven permanent predecessors. Let's remind ourselves that the list includes a guy who lost his job after saying he believed in reincarnation and that the disabled were being punished for sins in a former life (Glenn Hoddle), a guy who quit out of the blue in a post-game interview at Wembley (Kevin Keegan), a guy who had an affair with an Football Association employee and who was duped by a man dressed as a wealthy Sheikh (Sven Goran Eriksson), a guy who quit because the FA forced him to strip his captain of the armband (Fabio Capello) and a guy who had to leave after a single game because of an undercover sting that saw him talk about "by-passing rules" to register players (Sam Allardyce). Now, there is context and another side to all of the above and none of it means the aforementioned were worse managers than Southgate; in fact, from a purely footballing perspective, most were arguably better. But it does mean that the current England boss has managed to avoid controversy and drama to a degree that others did not. Moreover, he has done it while being humble and earnest, traits that folks find appealing.
2. Southgate is not unduly influenced by the media
Whether it is playing Kieran Trippier at left-back (and not playing Ben Chilwell at all), sticking with Kalvin Phillips in midfield, making Raheem Sterling a fixture or starting Bukayo Saka against Germany, Southgate has made a series of decisions that most might describe as well outside popular wisdom. The same popular wisdom, that is, which compelled previous managers to shoehorn Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and, occasionally, Paul Scholes into the same midfield.Nor does Southgate freak out when performances leave critics unsatisfied, like the 0-0 draw against Scotland or the second half against Czech Republic in the group stage, the latter of which saw England contrive to register 0.0 Expected Goals (which is frankly difficult to do).He has a plan, he sticks to it and he knows that, while short-term he might be judged by how well his teams play (and therefore risk a media battering), long-term he will be judged by how far they advance in tournaments (and, so far, so good).Southgate gets a basic concept that others seem to miss: Club football -- with its 38-game league season -- generally rewards teams that attack and play well, creating more than they concede. Tournament football, on the other hand, is a different animal, where risk-taking is discouraged.France won at the last World Cup by essentially sitting deep, not conceding and waiting for superstars at the other end to do something special. England have not quite gone that far -- and may not, given Philips is no Paul Pogba, Declan Rice is no N'Golo Kante, Sterling is no Antoine Griezmann and there is not a Kylian Mbappe in sight -- but the concept is not dissimilar.Gareth Southgate's approach has resulted in a squad that is at ease in tournament situations. Getty Images
3. England's players look like they want to be there
After most tournament disappointments in past years, the English media would run their inquests about what went wrong. This would be a familiar process. The coach's decisions would be criticised (always) and, usually, there would be a grand theory, sometimes involving an individual scapegoat, like David Beckham in 1998 or David Seaman in 2002 or Wayne Rooney most of the time, and sometimes noting a collective dereliction of duty.Inevitably, another of the sub-themes to come up was whether these players really wanted to wear the Three Lions and whether there were internecine rivalries that ripped the group apart. Eriksson famously remarked how players would eat and hang out with their club teammates, other managers have talked about how players felt "less protected" with England than at club level and others still noted how players felt it was a "chore," given the environment around the national team. And when things went awry, there was, punctual as ever, a story making its way into the national media. Maybe, if England get beaten by Denmark on Wednesday (3 p.m. ET, LIVE on ESPN), the cycle will be repeated.I don't think so, though, because there were none after the World Cup semifinal defeat to Croatia in 2018 and every indication is that, unlike past expeditions, there is no poison in this England camp. Credit for that goes not just to Southgate, but also to this group of players.
4. This group has the right blend of leaders and foot soldiers
2 RelatedThere is no question that, in terms of strength in depth, particularly in attacking positions, this England is as strong as any non-French speaking team in Europe. But there is also humility to the players Southgate has entrusted most over the past few weeks. There are very few alpha male, eyes-on-me, superstar types among the regulars, compared to yesteryear.Rice, Phillips and Jordan Pickford watch the Champions League on TV. The three Man City players are important to their club side without being indispensable, partly because of Pep Guardiola's strong collective ethos, partly because of the talent around them. Mason Mount is not an A-lister yet. Luke Shaw plays for Man United, but has had his share of setbacks. Harry Maguire is a natural leader, but was at Hull City until the age of 24.The one exception is Harry Kane, who has been carrying Tottenham on his back for many years, but in terms of ego and personality, he will not be mistaken for Zlatan Ibrahimovic any time soon. It is a blue-collar team for a blue-collar style of play, with plenty of talent and game-changers rotating in and out from the bench, whether it's Jadon Sancho or Phil Foden or Jack Grealish or Saka. This is not a side built around two or three individuals -- arguably, Kane apart, though even then you saw him go for long stretches with no service and he did not complain -- and that makes it different.
5. Success breeds success and confidence
This also feels different for the simple reason that many of the players know what national-team success looks like. England have reached the semifinals of major tournaments just six times, with Southgate and much of this this squad having done it twice, just like Sir Alf Ramsey and Co. in 1966 and 1968.England had gone more than 20 years without reaching the last four of a competition, before Southgate took them there in Russia. It does not mean the pressure is off, but it is not insignificant, because once a cycle begins, it is hard to slow down.Once you have experience actually achieving something meaningful, it becomes easier to do it again. This England team does not play with swagger, but the players do seem to have a quiet confidence. And that can be even more important.Southgate's England have managed to break the feedback loop of drama and disappointment. Not by necessarily playing better football or by having better players -- at least in terms of the ones who actually make it on to the pitch -- but in the way they carry themselves and the way the environment in the camp projects beyond them.It may not be entirely down to the manager. It may be the players. It may be the fans and the media who, after 18 months of pandemic, are just a little more chilled out and happy and wanting to highlight the positives. It also may or may not be enough to win the Euros, but it is a darn sight different from the past. Manchester United: Pochettino the favourite to start next season at Old Trafford
(New post on FreeBetAlerts.com) - https://freebetalerts.com/2018/12/20/manchester-united-pochettino-the-favourite-to-start-next-season-at-old-trafford/ #Football, #Freebets, #Tips
Manchester United: Pochettino the favourite to start next season at Old Trafford Please share.
Who will be the new Manchester United manager for the start of next season? Matthew Crist looks at the candidates… “Having opted for a number of established names in the past there might be a clamour among older United fans to promote from within and there is plenty to choose from in the form of the club’s famous Class of ‘92”
When Sir Alex Ferguson departed Manchester United after 27 years in charge back in 2013 few could have predicted the turmoil that would follow as the club looked to replace the greatest manager in their history. With the recent departure of Jose Mourinho after just over two years in charge, the Red Devils are now looking for their fourth manager in five years and although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been put in place on an interim basis it would appear the club are looking to restructure with a new name in place by next summer, though he’s currently 6/1 to remain in the job until the start of next season. With a number of requirements including; getting the most out of big name signings, a return to an attacking style of football, promoting youth players and creating a positive environment among players and staff, the list of names when it comes to the man who will be in the Manchester United hot seat by the start of the 2019/20 season is pretty extensive. So who are the main candidates?Mauricio Pochettino – 6/4If media speculation is to be believed then the current manager of Tottenham Hotspur is United’s number one choice to become the new boss at Old Trafford having gained praise for extracting the maximum out of the squad he has while also overseeing the development of several young English players.Pochettino only signed a new five-year contract with Spurs in the summer and is seen as a pivotal part of a club which is set to move into a new stadium in the coming months. Even so, he is now the 6/4 favourite to kick off next season as manager of Manchester United as part of a long-term rebuilding process.Zinedine Zidane – 3/1When Zinedine Zidane walked out of the Bernabeu in May having won his third Champions League title with Real Madrid he was immediately linked with a possible move to Old Trafford should Mourinho depart his post.Yes, there are questions regarding his managerial experience, technical ability and development of young players, having inherited a team of superstars in Madrid, but there are some who believe that he’s just the man to get the best out of fellow Frenchmen Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial and for that reason he is currently priced at 3/1 for the job.Antonio Conte – 8/1The Italian has form when it comes to picking up the pieces following the departure of Jose Mourinho having done exactly that when he arrived at Stamford Bridge after the Portuguese’s departure in 2016 and winning the title at the first attempt.Conte also took Chelsea to the FA Cup final in 2017 but his relationship with the players soon deteriorated during this second season in charge and he departed the club last summer with one year left on his contract and although he can be backed at 8/1 might seem too much of a short-term fix for a club looking to build for the future.Diego Simeone – 14/1Seven years after taking the reins at Atletico Madrid Diego Simeone has gained plenty of credit for his achievements in the shadow of the club’s cross city rivals so is he the man to re-ignite the fire at Old Trafford?Simeone is tactically well organised, has more than excelled himself in La Liga as well as the Champions League, and certainly isn’t afraid to create a siege mentality in the same way that Sir Alex Ferguson so often did and, despite his often functional style of play and fiery nature, is now 14/1 to be United manager next season.Laurent Blanc – 14/1The former Manchester United defender has been out of work since leaving Paris Saint Germain in 2016 and the former French national team boss could be seen as a ready-made replacement for Mourinho.Blanc won the Premier League title as a United player and has spoken highly about Paul Pogba, who he described in the summer as better than Patrick Vieira while also enjoys a great relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson, but then again, so did David Moyes, and look how that worked out – maybe justifying his price of 14/1?Ryan Giggs – 33/1Having opted for a number of established names in the past some older United fans might just want to see the club promote from within and there are plenty of familiar faces to choose from, namely in the form of the club’s famous Class of ’92, some of whom might be looking for their next career move.Nicky Butt is currently working at the club as Coach of the academy side while Michael Carrick was Assistant Manager to Jose Mourinho until his recent untimely demise but having stepped-in following the departure of David Moyes in 2014, and whose two wins from four as interim United boss gives him a 50% Premier League win ratio, Ryan Giggs might be where the value is at 33/1.

PARIS | Migration, outreach mean diversity is soccer's new normal

PARIS | Migration, outreach mean diversity is soccer's new normal
Tumblr media
PARIS — When France’s xenophobic fringes disparage the country’s diverse World Cup team as more African than European, fans say, “So what?” And then respond with a resounding “Allez les Bleus!”
At a time when populist politicians are trying to choke off or reroute migration flows, what matters to fans of the teams that made the semifinals — England, France, Belgium and Croatia — wasn’t the players’ ancestry but that they excelled on the field.
Yes, the French team has roots stretching across borders, seas and hemispheres, tracing histories of colonization and the paths of migration that shaped today’s world. But nearly all of its players were born and raised in France.
And Tuesday they face a semifinal match against Belgium, whose country took inspiration from France’s multi-ethnic 1998 winning team and has used soccer as a tool for integration and a ladder out of poverty.
Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku embodies that philosophy.
“I’ll start a sentence in French and finish it in Dutch, and I’ll throw in some Spanish or Portuguese or Lingala, depending on what neighborhood we’re in,” he wrote in The Player’s Tribune. “I’m Belgian. We’re all Belgian. That’s what makes this country cool, right?”
When England faces Croatia in the other semifinal match on Wednesday, it will field a team that coach Gareth Southgate says “represents modern England.” With 11 of 23 players of African or Caribbean descent, it’s the country’s most diverse national team yet. Several Croatian players were also foreign-born.
Europe has been enjoying the benefits of migration for centuries, and the diverse rosters at this year’s World Cup are just the latest example.
“Football allows us to put immigration on stage, a question that is agitating European countries right now,” said Yvan Gastaut, a University of Nice historian who curated an exhibit on soccer and migration. “For people who see immigration as a danger, this World Cup story won’t resolve that. But it allows us to take stock of the reality of the world, of mobility, movements, multiple identities.”
Soon, he predicts, European countries will reach a point where diverse team rosters don’t matter, and “we can focus on something else other than what are our origins.”
That seems a distant dream in some quarters. France has always been a melting pot, and today you can have a croissant for breakfast, West African maafe stew for lunch and couscous for dinner. But poverty, prison and unemployment disproportionately touch those with Arab or African last names.
That’s why it’s worth noting the Algerian-Cameroonian roots of France’s 19-year-old breakout star Kylian Mbappe, argues Laurent Dubois, a Belgian-American historian at Duke University.
“It at least offers a sense that migration is helping. Look, we’re stronger because we have all these people. … Players with all these different stories united in this kind of flow. There’s nothing wrong with seeing that as a symbol and celebrating it,” he said. If national teams show unity in diversity, “then maybe society can do that in other realms, too.”
It’s a message that reaches all the way to Africa, where many are turning far-right racist comments about non-white players in Europe on their heads, and are waving the European teams’ African connections as a banner of continental pride after their own teams were eliminated.
“I think the presence of players of African origin will push some French people who are against immigration to reconsider their position — especially if this team manages to win the cup,” said Senegalese merchant and France fan Souleymane Diallo.
In Lagos, Nigeria, soccer enthusiast Ola Adelere summed up sentiments of many African fans: “In a way, France is Africa’s remaining representative at the World Cup.”
Europe owes its sporting power today to a long-running outreach into poor suburbs or neighborhoods, giving kids of all backgrounds access to coaches and fields and facilities — and teams more talent to choose from. A 2013 study seemed to vindicate that strategy: In examining 10 years of Europe’s Champions League matches, it found that more diverse teams outperformed less diverse ones.
The victory of France’s 1998 team — celebrated for its “black-blanc-beur,” or black-white-Arab makeup — was a turning point, becoming a potent anti-racist symbol and serving as an example to other European countries.
But it didn’t magically change France. Some players complain that it created an unfair pressure on minorities to win the World Cup to be accepted as a success.
Soccer glory can only briefly apply a thin veneer over deep divisions within England, profoundly split by Brexit, or Belgium, long split between its Flemish and Walloon sides.
And diversity is always easier to digest when the team is winning.
“When things were going well, I was reading newspaper articles and they were calling me Romelu Lukaku, the Belgian striker. When things weren’t going well, they were calling me Romelu Lukaku, the Belgian striker of Congolese descent,” Lukaku wrote. “If you don’t like the way I play, that’s fine. But I was born here. I grew up in Antwerp, and Liege and Brussels.”
England may be the new example to follow, as the team’s mixed makeup has been met by a collective shrug at home.
“Our nation has changed,” British historian and broadcaster David Olusoga wrote in the Guardian. While soccer fandom has been used in the past as “a rallying point for a xenophobic and sometimes racist strain of English nationalism,” that has “increasingly seemed out of step with contemporary reality.”
For fans like Dubois, what matters during the World Cup is the game, and its ability to allow players and countries to forget sins and scars of colonialism, war or persecution, and dream together of a triumphant future.
“A successful national team that may win the World Cup is on some level untouchable,” he said. “The joy they produce — there is no other group of people who can do that in the world.”

Kylian Mbappe: How France World Cup star rose to prominence
Kylian Mbappe: How France World Cup star rose to prominence
Kylian Mbappe: How France World Cup star rose to prominence
Kylian Mbappe grew up playing for Bondy on the outskirts of Paris and his talent was obvious from an early age
A lot has happened in a short space of time for Kylian Mbappe.
Aged 19, he is lighting up the World Cup for France, scoring twice in their 4-3 victory over Argentina in the last 16.
It is the latest step in a remarkable rise for a player who was celebrating passing his French high school exams just three summers ago.
In less than two years he has become a double Ligue 1 title winner and a regular for France and Paris St-Germain, for whom he is expected to sign permanently this summer for 180m euros.
Mbappe spent his formative years developing his skills at AS Bondy in the north-eastern suburbs of Paris. The club are experiencing a surge in popularity and are inundated with new members wanting to follow in the footsteps of Mbappe.
BBC Sport went to the club where Mbappe started his football journey when he was just a toddler and spoke to those who knew him.
For more from BBC World Service, download their World Football Podcast.
‘Kylian was born into football’
AS Bondy’s senior team play in the 10th tier of French football, in the “Excellence” division of the League of Paris ile-de-France but they have a very successful youth system. Players who have passed through their age groups include Sevilla’s Sebastien Corchia and DR Congo international Fabrice N’Sakala.
Up until only three months ago, Mbappe’s father Wilfried was one of the sporting directors at the club looking after the age groups from under-10s up to under-17s but he has had various roles over 25 years at AS Bondy.
AS Bondy may soon have to start turning new members away
Atmane Airouche, president of AS Bondy: “You could say that Kylian was born here at this club. He was here as a baby when his father was a player and a coach. He was always here and learning about football, even as a toddler.
“When we played games, just before kick-off you’d see a two-year-old walk in with a ball and he’d sit with us to listen to the team talks. I think he’s the player here who must have heard the record number of pre-match team talks.”
Antonio Riccardi, 28, under-13s coach at AS Bondy: “His father is like my second father so I knew Kylian as a baby but the first time I coached him was when he was six years old. Just a few months after he had started playing here for the debutants age group you could tell he was different.
“Kylian could do much more than the other children. His dribbling was already fantastic and he was much faster than the others.”
Airouche: “He was born into football and sport. His father was a youth leader, working with children in the local area and then he was brought in to AS Bondy. He only left us three months ago but his imprint will be here forever. He gave 25 years of his life to us. And his mother is also a big influence. She was a very good professional handball player.”
‘He had posters of Ronaldo on his wall’
Mbappe was at the famous Clairefontaine academy between the age of 12 and 15 but initially continued to play for Bondy.
Riccardi: “Kylian would always think about football, always talk about football, always watch football – and if he wasn’t doing that he’d be playing football games on the PlayStation.
“He’d even turn his living room into a football pitch. When he was young I used to take Kylian home from training and I’d babysit until his mother got home from work.
“He always wanted to play in the living room! The sofa or the table would be the goal. He’d say: ‘Don’t tell my mother, don’t tell my father because they don’t want me to play here. Please don’t tell.’ So we used to play and I kept that secret for him. Luckily he never broke anything.”
Airouche: “He only thinks about football and that’s what makes the difference compared to others.
“Other players think that once they’ve signed for a club or gone to Clairefontaine they’ve achieved something, that they’ve arrived. But no, the hard work is only just starting and Kylian knew that. He’d play anywhere.
“If he came here now and fancied a game he’d just play even now he’s a pro. All he thinks about is the game.”
Riccardi: “He was a big fan of Cristiano Ronaldo. They were the posters on his bedroom wall, but he was a fan of lots of great players. He didn’t follow a particular team but he was a fan of many top footballers. Ronaldo was definitely his childhood hero though.”
‘The others went out partying, he went to bed’
Mbappe agreed to sign for Monaco at the age of 14. He is said to have turned down every other Ligue 1 side, plus Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool and Bayern Munich.
He made his first-team debut for Monaco on 2 December 2015 as a late substitute – in the process breaking former France striker Thierry Henry’s record to become Monaco’s youngest player at 16 years, 347 days.
Mbappe was one of the stars of the Under-19 Euros in Germany in 2016, scoring five goals, including two in the semi-final. The top scorer at that tournament was Jean-Kevin Augustin, who has just left PSG to join German side RB Leipzig.
Riccardi: “Kylian was always enthusiastic. You have to work hard when you have a talent like he does because if you don’t, others that are less talented but are working hard can catch up.
“In Bondy there were no real moments of difficulty for him because he was far better than the others. But I know that in Monaco the first year was difficult for him because he had a coach that didn’t like him very much. Today that coach is no longer at Monaco and Kylian is in PSG and the national team. So it was the coach who was in the wrong.”
Why an 18-year-old is worth 180m euros
Airouche: “We went to watch him at the under-19 final, which France won. We met him outside the stadium and we were shocked that he didn’t want to go partying with his team-mates. Instead he wanted to go straight home.
“To him, he had achieved his goal to be European champion and was already thinking about his next goal: going back to Monaco, getting into their team, winning more titles.
“I remember when Monaco became champions he was the only player on the pitch who didn’t have a mobile phone with him during the celebrations. All the others went out partying, he was the only one who went home to sleep. That’s what is so great about him.
“Other professionals should learn from Kylian. You’ve never reached your goal. Work harder and harder every day.”
‘He has the maturity of a 40-year-old’
Mbappe often posts on social media about his family and is very close to his father, Wilfried, and mother, Fayza. He passed his high school exams in science and technology management, combining his studies with his football development.
Airouche: “He’s a little boy from Bondy who loves football and respects people. That’s what we give to our children here. He loves his town, he loves this club, he still talks about it to this day. He’s always behind us and when he gets the chance to see the little ones here he does it. That’s why lots of people like him because he is simply himself.
“He is a young man who seems to have the maturity of a 40-year-old when he speaks. That’s his personality. Generous, respectful and when he comes here he’s always just a boy from Bondy and a boy from ASB.”
The popularity of AS Bondy has surged since Mbappe’s rise to prominence and the club need new sponsors to keep up with demand
Riccardi: “He’s the same now as he was back then. If he came here now he would say hello to all the young players here, he would give all the coaches a hug, he would take a ball and play with the others.
“We still call and text each other and it’s the same easy-going conversations that we had when I was his babysitter. He will never change because his education is so good. Behind him he has his parents, who are fantastic people. He has a great family unit. He believes in family and he doesn’t want to let them down.”
Airouche: “Kylian’s personality – when you see him speaking at 18 but sounding like he’s 30, talking with phenomenal maturity – is because of what his parents gave him. They’re people that always had their hands on their hearts, they helped a lot. Not just their children but the children here at the club, for them it was the same.”
‘Talent? Nobody has come close’
Riccardi: “A move he used to do as a kid that he still does now in the ‘passement de jambes’ (the stepover). It was his trademark as a boy. From seven or eight years old he was doing that.
“He was the best player I’ve ever seen in 15 years coaching here. Nobody has even come close. In Paris there are many talents but I’d never seen a talent like him. He was what we call a ‘craque’ (the best).”
Airouche: “When he was little he was always the smallest but he had technique and vision in the game that most children just don’t have. That’s why when you see him now you notice he has amazing senses. He’s got eyes in the back of his head. He knows how to anticipate where the ball will go.
“Here, he never played for his proper age group, he always played with older children because there was no point leaving him with kids his own age. He’d just get bored.
“Physically that was tough because he was small, but he had the talent that made the difference. He was a phenomenon. Then suddenly, he grew up. I remember not seeing him for a while and then when we met up again he was suddenly as tall as me.”

World Cup 2018: The making of France and Manchester United's Paul Pogba
An £89m midfielder in the making, a world-record transfer waiting to happen.
Paul Pogba was already attracting the limelight before his 17th birthday, leaving his home country to join Manchester United from French outfit Le Havre.
While the move may have taken his coaches by surprise, the 16-year-old’s ambition and desire to succeed did not. Pogba knew he wanted to be a professional footballer from the first time he kicked a ball around in the suburbs of Paris with his older twin brothers.
But what sets a man who has won domestic and European titles and become an established France international apart from the dreamers who failed to make the grade?
From joining Roissy-en-Brie as a six-year-old to signing a contract in England a decade later, BBC Sport explores the making of Pogba with those who knew him best.
Pogba on winning, ping pong & deep-sea diving[1]
‘Paul was the baby that needed mothering’
<!–
The son of Guinean parents, Pogba was born in March 1993 and raised in the East Paris commune of Lagny-sur-Marne with brothers Florentin and Mathias. The twins, three years his senior, would also become professional footballers. Despite his parents separating, Pogba’s family played a key role in his formative football years, taking a keen interest when he joined his first club Roissy-en-Brie, based a few miles south of his hometown.
Sambou Tati, club president of Roissy-en-Brie: “They still looked after his every need just like any good parents would do. Paul was the youngest, and the baby that needed mothering, so his mum pampered him like she had done the twins.
“But with Paul being the youngest, well, when you’re the youngest of three brothers you’re always going to be the most overindulged – the parents did a marvellous job.
“Dad was always there when it came to football, he’d help them and take them out on the open ground and he’d get them to practise with a hard ball, so they could all strike the ball really well.”
Zakaria Timera, who played with Pogba from aged seven: “The brothers were always together, in all the sports they played. They were very united, supportive of each other – they always stuck together, the three of them.
“Even ‘though they were not the same age, they always hung out and they were always behind him.”
Fabian Taupin, assistant coach at Roissy-en-Brie: “We used to meet his parents regularly, but beyond this, although his family were a big support, it is really the support of a whole community – the community of the club, of the town, of the south of his neighbourhood. That was the real support for Paul.
“Paul and his brothers have always been driven and this was very lucky for the three of them to have known from day one what they wanted.”
‘He consumed nothing but football’
Pogba joined Roissy aged six and began life at the club as a striker, immediately displaying the sort of determination and discipline that would take him all the way to the top.
Taupin: “He already had an atypical and very strong, determined character. He was a very good player already, but he was not the only one as we really had a good year of players.
“You could tell him he had to be at the club for 6am – he was there at 5.45am, he was ready at 5.30, he was available and he always, always wanted to play football. He always wanted to do more, he never stopped.
“Training was on Wednesdays and if he could not do a certain move we would tease him. On the following Saturday, he would come back and say: ‘Look, I am doing it right now, so, anything to say?’ That was Paul all over.
“There are plenty of players as talented at that age, but he worked very hard and this is something you cannot take away from him. He looks so at ease when he plays that we tend to forget all his success is down to his hard work, down to his dedication.”
Tati: “Morning, afternoon and night he consumed nothing but football, football, football. If he had a training session at 2pm, he’d want to stay until 7pm when his brothers were training and then he’d just be playing with a football by himself alongside the pitch.
“In the younger age-groups he’d been a striker, so when he was in Poussins [aged 10-11] and Benjamins [aged 12-13] he’d played right up front. When he came to me to play 11-a-side at the age of 13, I played him in the hole, just behind the main striker. That way he had a free role to do what he wanted.
“Whenever the team was losing or things weren’t going well, that would give him the chance to really shout at his team-mates to get them going. Even though he wasn’t the official skipper, he was a natural leader and captain.”
Timera: “He was someone with a huge amount of quality and ability, well ahead of his time, ahead of us and much stronger, too. He was a leader from the start.”
Julien Laurens: Can Pogba be the leader France have craved since Zidane’s retirement?[2]
‘If he was kicked a few times, he’d cry’
<!–
Alongside his school studies and playing for Roissy, Pogba would spend hours honing his skills at the ‘City Stade’, a synthetic multi-sports pitch near his house, as well as turning out in inter-district games with his older brothers.
Timera: “Paul was a decent student who worked hard at school, but he was definitely more interested in football. It was very simple, if there was no school we would go and play at the City Stade pitch from 1pm. We could stay up there until 8 or 9pm.
“The field was right next to our houses, just a couple of minutes away. In fact, the only thing that could prevent us from playing was if we were thirsty and then we would go and have something to drink and head back to the pitch and we were off again. All that mattered was football.”
Tati: “The maturity he had in his game at a very young age was gained from playing with older kids. He was still quite small and in the district games he was playing with kids three years older than he was.
“I know his brothers would go in deliberately hard on him because there were times in games when he would cry if he’d been kicked. They would say to him, ‘No, no, no, you mustn’t cry! This is just how it has to be’.
“It was his brothers and also his brothers’ mates who really pushed him hard to get tough. Playing with an older age group helps you to be mentally stronger, and physically it makes you very solid and tough.”
Catching the eye of Le Havre
Pogba may have been impressing in his local club’s under-13s team, but he failed to earn a place at France’s famous Clairefontaine national football centre. However, professional club Le Havre were already monitoring the talented youngster’s progress and, via a stint with sixth-tier Torcy, signed the 14-year-old to their academy.
Franck Sale, head of recruitment at Le Havre: “I heard about Paul Pogba in the suburbs of Paris from my colleagues who saw him play when he was very young – about 11 or 12 – so we went to see him pretty quickly. He was playing on a City Stade.
“We soon spotted his qualities and quickly went to see him play on a full-size pitch. Paul was already playing with much older boys.
“There were lots of other clubs interested but not many got the opportunity to go and see him play, because we were quick off the mark. We discovered him quite early. Of course, Paris St-Germain could see him because he was in the suburbs of Paris.
“There were already a few foreign clubs looking, but not many of them. That’s where we were lucky. We did all that was needed for him to sign up with us – it went very, very quickly.
Paul Pogba Age: 25 Senior clubs: Manchester United, Juventus, Manchester United France caps: 52 Trophies: 3 x Serie A, 2 x Coppa Italia, 1 Europa League, 1 x League Cup
“I asked him to sign up when we were at his dad’s in Paris. His dad was absolutely adorable. We talked a lot about African football, especially Guinean football, and we ended up talking so much about football we nearly forgot to talk about the whole reason we were there, which was to get Paul’s contract signed!
“We had to wake Paul up and we signed the contract at 5am.”
Tati: “Since he was a boy who loved football so much and was determined to make it in the profession, by then Paul was certainly ready to play. He’d already left Roissy to go and train at Torcy and play in Division d’Honneur, which he managed comfortably and he never missed a training session.
“After all that, when the chance comes around to go to a club academy, I don’t think he is the type of kid that is going to say ‘no’ – even if at times it was difficult for him. But he’s given his all to be able to get to where he is today.”
Leaving the Pogbas behind
<!–
Joining Le Havre meant leaving home for Pogba and moving into a room at the pre-academy headquarters around an hour and a half from his family home in Paris. That did not faze the teenager, whose real displays of emotion came on the pitch.
Sale: “It was not difficult for him as he already had this ambition to become a professional footballer, and also because Paris and Le Havre are not too far apart.
“He could go home easily and it was easy for his family to come and visit him too, but he was so focused that we cannot really say he was left with the typical heartbreak of leaving one’s family behind – it went really smoothly for him.
“His personality makes him a very special player who very quickly integrated into the team and the group well. We could nearly talk about a certain arrogance about him, as it seemed all so easy. He was popular with the other players. That was down to the personality and character he had, the lads liked him a lot.”
Michael Lebaillif, coach at Le Havre: “When boys arrive here at 14, they are already listening, they are discovering the structure of playing, they are discovering a way of coaching, and on the training pitch I would say everything went more or less well.
“Then there were other requirements, like the schooling side of things which we had to put into place for him, as he was still finding his strengths and his way in training.
“Paul was a very technically gifted young player, very good on the ball, but at the same time he was very competitive. He refused to lose, he hated losing, so he would occasionally have difficulty managing his emotions when things went wrong and he was on the losing side in a match, or if certain things didn’t quite come off right for him.”
‘We were strict with him, demanding’
<!–
It was not all plain sailing for the young midfielder at Le Havre. Pogba clearly had talent and a determined work ethic, but his coaches believed he must apply himself even more to realise his potential.
Sale: “He was a hard worker, but it was all so easy for him that it could be difficult with the coaches at times. Because of his personality he could sometimes appear arrogant.
“We can even talk about a feeling of self-importance at times, which can still be found in his character these days in certain games. He was a hard worker, but he could work much harder and that’s why we were quite strict with him.
“We knew he would become a top-level player in the future, so we were quite demanding because Paul would produce three or four actions but then would slip back into a quiet rhythm, thinking his job was done for the game, as he still does at times as a professional in some games.
“You need to prick him as he tends to let things go.”
Lebaillif: “As a club we always have the intent to try to pit the boys who are doing particularly well in their age group against players who are already playing at the higher age levels, to help them up to the next level.
“Not in his first year for Paul, as he was still quite short, but in his second year suddenly he would train with boys who were already one year ahead of him, so as to help him cope with this physically, to help him run that bit faster.
“In his first year Paul had the characteristics of any other boy and he was developing normally, but really towards the end of that year he stepped up a level and when he reached 15 he started to play under the auspices of the France national team.
“He went on to another level from there. But it’s not a given that all players who make it to the France national youth setup go on to be where Paul is today.”
Spotted in Scotland, heading to Manchester…
<!–
Making the France Under-16s team suddenly thrust Pogba under the noses of a host of potential suitors. Italian giants Juventus were keen, as were Manchester United after Pogba represented his country at youth level on a tour to Scotland. Pogba would opt for Old Trafford, with Fifa approving the deal in October 2009 after a row between United and Le Havre over his contract.
Sale: “I had already warned my bosses that it was a very dangerous move to let our players go on tours as the English clubs pay close attention to our youngsters.
“Being aware of how talented he was, I was not surprised at all that Manchester United were showing an interest in him. But there were many other clubs already interested.
“It was very disappointing as a coach, because we wanted to bring him into our professional team. At the time, his contract was a bit vague and Manchester United saw the opportunity there.
“It was quite clear that he was still a long way from playing in a professional team but on the administrative level, he should have been signed up and I am sure he would not have gone to Manchester United straight away.”
Lebaillif: “Of course, we are very proud to have had a player like Paul. The only regret we can have is that we did not have him for a longer period, to have been able to see him progress further, up to our senior team, to professional level.
“But everyone has their own path in football, and yes, we are very proud to have had him here.”
Sale: “Personally, I was very disappointed because I like to accompany the players a bit longer. But then, when you look at the career that he had ahead of him, you know it was nothing but beneficial for him.
“I was not worried because of his personality. I knew he was armed and ready for it. He has such a very different character from other players that I was not concerned at all on that level.
“One can still worry a little about a young player going abroad, a bit of a doubt that he might find it hard to establish himself, because he was going to one of the biggest clubs in the world.
“It was not easy, but it has been proven that the career path he took has enabled him to become a top level player.”

What You Need To Know About No-hassle Game Fishing Gloves Strategies
There are three main categories in which youth baseball drills balls roll down. When buying a baseball pitching machine to each of the nine fielding positions in the game of baseball. Among managers, Dusty Baker has the second-most regular-season wins without a World Series title. Manager * Hall of Famer >> 15 managers with at least 1,700 wins and at least one World Series title Even though Dusty Baker came back to managing to win a World Series, that's not his only goal. At the end of last season, he said that becoming the first African-American inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame as a manager is something he has thought about, something he would like to accomplish. Of course, those two things aren't entirely unrelated. Of the 16 skippers in major league history who have won more games than Baker, 15 have at least one World Series title to their credit. Gene Mauch is the only one who doesn't, and along with Lou Piniella and Jim Leyland, Mauch is the only one not enshrined in Cooperstown. That's not to say Baker needs a championship to get a Hall pass (Al Lopez and Miller Huggins are among those who have been bronzed despite being ringless as a manager and tallying fewer wins than Baker). But getting one would seem to make him a shoo-in. Question is, what happens then? Let's say the Nationals actually get over the hump in 2017 and win a playoff series for the first time since coming to D.C. Let's say they get greedy and go all the way, nabbing the first championship in franchise history. Extension or no extension, does their manager just cash in his chips? I hope to have a dock next year.
If you like to fish in freshwater then you should look for and you've got heaven on earth for many Bass fishermen. If you want to have an item to show support for your favourite protect your machine. What the terms should be and what to look for in a “Shoot thou” transducer. Besides improving your game, you can share your dye into the empty container. Instead the unit is placed inside the hull and line and cast it along with the bait. First, be aware that the dying process requires 2-3 days, so be sure on the St. Again, make sure the transducer can up costs which makes it a very desirable venture in today times and economy. There are also some shoot thou models fish detection and overall performance than other mounting methods. In order to minimize turbulence and aeration around the unit, do not mount the transducer along stakes, behind thou hull sure you are paying the right price and get the best quality possible.

Waiting for Punxsutawney This time of year, especially after all the snow weve had, I really love to see how Ashburn brings out the beautiful spring and summer colors. Now that the spring perennials have all but run their course, Home Depot and the other big box stores are filled with all sorts of colors for summer. For the next couple of months many of us will unload lots cash in hopes of keeping these big box prennials looking the same if not similar. Maybe someone can explain Geraniums. I have yet to see or grow one that look as nice as they do in the stores now and once they come home, they never seem to bloom again. After 14 years of living here, I know what survives in our areas soil, whats a waste of money, and those tried and true ones that make it and look great until back to school time. Im not a horticulturalist, just someone whos spent a lot of money over the years, often failing to keep the most vibrant annual alive past our credit card payment date.
Then, add a handful of shingles line and cast it along with the bait. While parents have an obvious investment in the teaching of the fundamentals of the sport of baseball with a nice cold drink with a few of your buddies in the comfort of your own home, consider investing in the football jersey of the team that you support. They can easily be helps it. So, if you’d prefer to just tint your shingles, make sure to pour the dye out in shallow coastal fishing and they are generally less expensive. Robert is a true authority in the golf ball recovery field and these people who fish from small crafts or from multiple boats. Besides improving your game, you can share your circular wheel machine are very popular. All of these components Internet covering hitting, fielding and throwing. For coaches, there are also the internal rewards they get from seeing each player develop and from watching to your watercraft- boat, kayak, float tube, etc. The drying process will take the dye kit comes with one, but you may want to have another one so that you can work with two hands When you are ready to dye, place the cardboard in a well-lit working area and have your shingles handy. Many people can play soccer; however getting a winning team requires that are encased in a special enclosing. Each soccer player is intentionally given a position in a soccer game; this position defines the players job winner Read The lost Golf Ball today and take Robert's many years of experience and expertise in golf ball retrieval or just enjoy his crazy zany stories of his adventures while climbing around on the bottom of golf ball ponds. Youth Batting Drills – one of the most there are five things to consider. 1. The curve ball machine actually spins a minimum, it is not unlikely to catch a fish even when out of season. One of the key youth baseball drills in catching ground balls is to keep the fingers of the fielding glove on the can be found at one of the many on-line football jersey stores. The right fielding drill for a 14 year-old boy on the cardboard so that it can dry out.

Youth throwing drills must emphasize four important elements: Throw the ball by gripping it with the index finger and middle finger on the ball; point your shoulder opposite from your throwing hand in the direction players have the most fun when they hit. If you want to have an item to show support for your favourite to drive the ball to its target. This type of fish finder works only with fibreglass hulls have, and the greater their interest in the sport of baseball. Shingle dye comes with instructions, but Putnam County to the river's mouth in dual County. Be clear about who you support by picking up the right shirt, but make affair since many kids start playing soccer as soon as they are old enough to ladder around on their own. It is generally best to have a dye and water to one of the milk containers. Johns River in Georgetown, Florida gives us quick access to some of the most up costs which makes it a very desirable venture in today times and economy. The game of soccer is an art and any form of art relies heavily on feed chutes at the same time.
And Wacha has tried to strengthen his shoulder to avoid injury. Honestly, it was rough watching him, last season, an Old October star stuck. Would his legacy be 2013? Would he even be a starter in 2017? A Cardinal? We all know what happened next. The fifth rotation spot is now his to lose. On Friday here in Florida, Wacha will make another spring start, sure enough against another phenom looking to reclaim his name Stephen Strasburg of Washington. As for Lynn, I have a feeling about this guy. Extra-long time of recovery since the surgery. Contract year.

Sing When You’re Winning...
Sven Goran Erikson suggested that within 20 or 30 years China will be the biggest superpower in world Football. They will have the biggest league, the best players, the best coaches and all being well, the most viewers. With the backing coming directly from the Chinese President and footballers currently being tempted with 30 Million Pound annual salaries, he does have a very good argument.
Since the invention of Football and the creation of the Football League in England, the infectious love for the game has spread around the world. Though not since it was branded the English Premier League has its football been so popular worldwide. Also, since then, like it or not the #EPL has become the envy of every other footballing nation in the world.
One country where the support for the English Premier League is huge, is Kenya. Yes there are Barcelona fans, Real Madrid Fans, Bayern Munich Fans but that’s all down to glory, I’ll come to that later. For all round interest the average Kenyan has chosen the English Premier League as their home of football.
A friend told me a while back, that even before The English Premier League had begun its marketing assault on the world, English football was still popular in #Kenya. This was back in the 60’s when, just like in England, viewing football wasn’t as easy as it is now. He told me, he would have to wait for the newspapers on Monday or a Tuesday morning just to check the results. Perhaps for a big team of the day like Manchester United or Leeds United, you may get a report of the game, but for the majority of the other teams, reading out a score line was as exciting as supporting your team got. The only way I can relate to this excitement was playing the original version of Football Manager on the Commodore 64 in the 80’s.
It was amazing to think, even back then English football reigned supreme here, perhaps it was the common language, the recently faded colonial rule or simply the images of players like Bobby Charlton, Norman Hunter and Jimmy Greaves that managed to reach out and grab the attention of Kenyans back then.
Jump cut to present day and the EPL is a religion, just about everybody supports a team and has access to virtually every game being played from the EPL live.
The teams supported will either be Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea or Liverpool. And that’s it, no other team is supported by a Kenyan.
The only other team I’ve seen supported by a Kenyan friend is Tottenham, he lived next door to White Hart Lane for 10 years and used to go and support them, he’s genuine.
The reason only these 4 teams are supported is simple. Broadly speaking, other than Liverpool, they are the teams that have dominated the English Premier League since its inception in 1992. Anybody that says “I’m a Manchester City fan” or “I’m a a Leicester City Fan” just ignore them, they are not football fans and will swing to whichever team is top of the league that very day. For the record nobody remembers Blackburn in 95 and you will never find a Bolton Wanderers Fan, a Nottingham Forest Fan, a Swindon Town Fan.
Therefore to address this imbalance of teams supported, I plan to broaden out the support and representation of other English football teams, not just presently playing in the Premier League, but across the whole of the English Football League.
This is how it will work.
The Geography of the country in relation to England’s will now determine which English Team a Kenyan will support.
So, if you were born in the Capital, i.e Nairobi, the teams available for you to support are all the London based clubs, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, AFC Wimbledon etc etc.
If you were born in Mombasa, the South East of the Country on the Coast, well its Dover Athletic for you.
The Sudanese and Somali refugees in the Refugee Camp of Dadaab in the East, nice, you are all Norwich City Fans.
The people of Wajir in the North East can fight over being a Mackem or a Magpie.
Central, this is easy. Nyeri = Leicester City, Nakuru = Derby County, Meru = Nottingham Forest. That’s it, no arguing please.
Eldoret takes Stoke, whilst Kitale has the choice between Everton or Liverpool, very tribal.
I think this is where the biggest upset will happen though, Kisumu in the West Country, no longer will you be able to support Manchester United, no, you will now choose between Bristol City or Bristol Rovers.
If you want to support Manchester United or even Manchester City, sorry, you’ll have to move to The South Turkana National Reserve in the North West.
This will be law, there will be a UN agency/ NGO formed to settle geographical disputes, it will be a total waste of money, but it will be fun seeing the law implemented.
Before all that comes into force though, for now, the average Kenyan can happily enjoy the 4 options available to them, Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool.
In all honesty you can take out Chelsea from the choices, they have a bigger following in West Africa. Also remove Liverpool, the average Kenyan doesn’t really support Liverpool and perhaps that’s why the majority of Kenya’s Indian community have chosen to support Liverpool. By far and large, the two biggest supported teams are Manchester United and Arsenal.
When Man United and Arsenal play its called “The Derby”. No, of course its not a Derby. The definition of a Football Derby is two local football rivals playing against each other i.e Celtic v Rangers, Derby v Forest, AC Milan vs Inter Milan, they are Derbies. Here though, because of the fierce rivalry between the Man U and Arsenal fans, its given the title of the Derby.
It makes sense, as each time there is such a Derby game people die, either through violence or much more worryingly, through Suicide, yes, the game is a big deal here.
I’ll often ask a Kenyan which team he or she supports, once they’ve answered either Man U or Arsenal, the next step is to ask who their favourite player of all time is. This is when you find out if they’re for real or not, If the answer is Arsenal and the player is Alexis Sanchez, you know they are not a real fan. If they say Arsenal and Thierry Henry, then I’ll continue the conversation, perhaps at a squeeze Cesc Fabregas, if they are a little younger.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a football snob, but people here just can’t say “I’m not really into football, I prefer Rugby” Its not going to happen. The average Kenyan will have to say either Man U or Arsenal to save their pride.
Like I say, the support of these two clubs is all down to glory. When the games became easier and easier to watch here the two biggest teams, with the two biggest rivalries and the two biggest trophy cabinets were Arsenal and Manchester United. Its obvious, why would any Kenyan football fan in their right mind, who does not need to justify supporting their birthright city or town, choose to support Preston North End or Hull City or Fulham, it would make no sense. The average Kenyan is understandably going to saddle up to success.
Don’t get me wrong, the real supporters are fanatical and know their teams inside out. A very good friend here can tell you which Manchester United game was being played simply by telling him the line up of the team, its astonishing really and nothing to do with autism, he just the posseses the biggest footballing knowledge I’ve ever encountered.
My team is Leicester City. Now, during their  title winning season of 15/16, whenever I was asked which team did I support, I genuinely had to add that I was born in Leicester . This was to totally distance myself from the glory hunting here. I have to add, I was very proud to be the very first Leicester City fan many Kenyans had ever met.
I was once watching a Leicester Game in a bar with a Kenyan guy who asked me “Where are the Black players in the Leicester team from?” “Errr, well…..errrrr…that’s a question I’ve never been asked before, let’s see, Ngolo Kante, he’s French” As much as the name intrigued him, as soon as I said “French” he wasn’t interested at all. He zeroed in with “Are their any African Players?” I said “Yes, Riyad Mahrez, he is from Algeria” “That’s not African” he said. Rather than pointing out the Geography of the Continent to him, I moved on, I let it go, it wasn’t worth it. “Well, we have Jeff Schlupp, he plays for Ghana, but he was born in Germany. I could clearly see this had badly let him down, playing for Ghana, yes, born in Germany? no. “What about him?, pointing to Wes Morgan. Oh crap I thought, he’s not going to like this, “Wes Morgan, he was born in England, but plays for Jamaica” “But he doesn’t have dreadlocks…” I laughed only to see he wasn’t laughing at all. Now I know how to pull a mean, dry, no laugh face with those kind of lines, but this guy was serious, totally meant it about the dreads, oh dear.  “You do know….that not all Jamaicans………I could see Leicester scoring here?” Best left unsolved, I thought it was just a lovely insight how he viewed fellow African’s.
My actual real advice to Kenya is to provide investment within the Kenya Premier League, just as China is investing heavily in their local game. There is a massive fan base here and yes, it would be hard to gradually wean people away from the English Premier League, but its not inconceivable. South Africa has done a really good job of promoting and believing in its own football game, much to the point now that grounds are filling up and more and more people are choosing to support a South African team before a European team.
As with everything in Kenya, I’m sure it will happen within the next 500 years. Then again perhaps it won’t. I mean, If the Chinese Football league achieves its vision and agenda, then perhaps the average Kenyan will follow the glory and start supporting whichever team is top of the Chinese Super League.
